My Favourite Tarot Practice: A Simple Daily Ritual for Your Soul
Hey there!
So, you've got your deck. You know the basics of the Major and Minor Arcana. You might be thinking, "How do I actually use this thing every day?"
I want to share my favourite and most powerful tarot practice with you. It’s a simple ritual that takes less than five minutes but can change the way you see your entire day. It’s called the Daily Draw.
It's Not About Predicting the Future
When I first started, I used to pull a card and think, "What's going to happen to me today?" But I quickly realized that's not what this practice is about. The Daily Draw isn't about predicting a specific event. It's about setting an intention and gaining a little bit of wisdom to carry with you.
Think of it like this: your card for the day is a gentle whisper from your intuition. It's an energy or a theme to be aware of. It's a lens through which you can view your day and a tool for self-awareness.
The Practice: A Simple 3-Step Ritual
This is all you need to do to start a powerful new habit:
1. Ask a Simple Question. First, hold your deck in your hands and take a deep breath. Ask a simple, open-ended question. I love to ask things like:
"What is the energy of my day today?"
"What do I need to be mindful of?"
"What is my lesson for today?"
2. Pull One Card. Shuffle your deck. When it feels right, pull a single card from the deck. Don't overthink it! This is where you practice trusting your gut.
3. Reflect and Observe. This is the most important part. Don't immediately look up the meaning in a book. Instead, just sit with the card for a moment.
Look at the image. What do you see? What colours, symbols, or characters stand out to you?
Feel the energy. Does the card feel light or heavy? Exciting or peaceful?
Connect it to your question. How does this image connect to what you asked?
Let's say you pull the Knight of Pentacles. You might not be literally "charging forward" in a knight's armour. Instead, the card could be a message about patience, a reminder to be methodical and diligent in your work, or a nudge to finish that slow-and-steady project you've been putting off. The beauty is in the interpretation.
Make it a Habit
I highly recommend keeping a journal for your Daily Draw. Each day, write down the date, the card you pulled, and a few thoughts on what it might mean for you. At the end of the day, you can revisit your entry and see how the card's energy showed up. You might be surprised by the patterns you discover.
This simple daily ritual will do more than help you learn the tarot. It will help you build a relationship with your deck and, more importantly, with your own inner wisdom.
So, go on. Pick up your deck and see what wisdom is waiting for you today. You’ve got this. 💜
